SIX WAYS TO HELP BIRDS

Plant Native!

With safe habitats declining globally, birds have less and less places to rest, shelter and nest. Planting native vegetation provides safe spaces, and healthy food for birds of all kinds.

Bird-friendly Coffee!

To farm coffee at the rate we consume companies often have to destroy wildlife habitat. Buying shade-grown coffee supports their ecosystem and is an effective way to help birds!

Shade-grown coffee is also known to taste better!

Avoid rodenticide, pesticides & Glue Traps!

Spreading up the food chain, pesticides and rodenticides can poison many species of birds.

Additionally, birds often try and eat the animals stuck in glue traps, which they then get stuck in.

Citizen Science!

Report what you find while bird-watching on Ebird and/or Inaturalist. With the help of everybody, the internet can be ornithologist’s greatest tool for tracking bird migrations, and species count.

Keep Cats Indoors!

Cats are estimated to kill 2 billion birds annually in the US and Canada. Cats instinctively hunt birds, even when well fed. Keeping your cat indoors is a great preventive measure to help keep birds safe.

Lights Out!

During migration seasons it is important for us to reduce our light pollution. City lights can attract migrating birds away from their routes. This can lead to building collusions and unnecessary exhaustion.
