Plant Native!
With safe habitats declining globally, birds have less and less places to rest, shelter and nest. Planting native vegetation provides safe spaces for birds of all kinds.
Bird-friendly Coffee!
To farm coffee at the rate we consume companies often have to destroy wildlife habitat. Buying shade-grown coffee is a simple, yet effective way of helping birds!
Plus! Shade-grown coffee is known to taste better!
Avoid Pesticides & Glue Traps!
Pesticides can often poison many species of birds leading to unintended death. Additionally, birds often try and eat the animals stuck in glue traps, which they then get stuck in. It is especially important for all wildlife to keep pesticides out of water and area near water.
Citizen Science!
When you are out bird watching, report what you see on Ebird and/or Inaturalist. With the help of everybody, the internet can be ornithologist’s greatest tool to keep track of bird populations worldwide, changes in bird behaviors, migration routes, etc.
Keep Cats Indoors!
Cats are estimated to kill 2 billion birds annually in U.S. and Canada. Cats instinctively hunt birds, even when well fed. Keeping your cat indoors is a great preventive measure to help keep birds safe.
Lights Out!
During migration seasons it is important for us to reduce our light pollution. City lights can attract migrating birds away from their routes. This can lead to building collusions and unnecessary exhaustion.
